Communications Associate
We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Associate to play an integral role in driving the successful execution of WCM’s daily operations. The ideal candidate will have curiosity, self-motivation, a strong attention to detail, a solid understanding of the breadth of disciplines involved in marketing and communications, and a burning desire to make an impact for the organization and its clients. You’ll work directly with the division president to perform varied marketing, editing, and project management functions, build and maintain client relationships and deliver creative and innovative communications strategies.
The Marketing and Communications Associate will be responsible for:
● Monitoring all custom project teams by tracking project deliverables, creating production schedules, maintaining client communication, and assisting team members as needed.
● Preparing project status reports and meeting notes.
● Helping develop and execute integrated marketing communications strategies.
● Implementing client edits/feedback and proofing deliverables.
● Maintaining brand identity and messaging across WCM’s online platforms including updating the website content and coordinating email campaigns, as needed.
● Supporting the president through business development planning activities.
● Conducting initial and follow-up calls to prospective clients.
● Drafting documents related to the proposal development process, including: writing, proofreading, copy-editing, and formatting.
● Researching business development opportunities and preparing information for potential and current opportunities.
● Responding to requests for information with accuracy and in a professional and timely manner.
● Coordinating team and/or client meetings, including drafting slides, scheduling and room set-up, as appropriate.
● Administrative duties and other projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills Required
● Bachelor’s degree; Minimum 1-3 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, project management, or a related field.
● Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; administrative experience required.
● Ability to organize and prioritize tasks efficiently, including ability to handle multiple, simultaneous deadlines.
● Motivated self-starter; analytical; exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
● Editing and proofreading experience.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and Adobe Creative suite.
● Knowledge of HTML, CSS, WordPress, and Google Analytics.
● Experience with print and digital publications, a plus.
● Business development and/or sales experience, a plus.
● Comfortable working independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a growing agency setting.
● Positive, can-do attitude with a willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.

Editorial Fellowship
Washingtonian’s editorial fellowship offers applicants the chance to immerse themselves in all aspects of making a magazine. As a regional magazine for the national capital, we cover a universe that includes national newsmakers and hometown tastemakers, everything from power politics to local real estate to the ways our diverse city shops, eats, and dresses. Our editorial fellows fact-check stories, work occasional magazine events, and write as often as possible for our magazine and our website. The ideal applicant is a self-starter, ready to collaborate with our creative newsroom and get fired up about covering the day’s happenings in Washington—but also someone with enough curiosity to sniff out interesting news, trends, and personalities that aren’t already in the media. Responsibilities:
- Pitch and write articles for the print magazine and website
- Research and fact-check print stories
- Assist with Washingtonian public programming
- Attend regular staff meetings
Qualifications:
- Available to work full time Monday through Friday
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills
Fellows are paid at a rate of $17.50/hour

IT Manager
Position: full-time
In office: minimum 3x week
Core Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Salary: $70,000 – $85,000
Starting Date: October 1, 2025
The primary roles of the IT Manager are staff service, technical problem solving, research, and product ordering. The IT Manager provides IT support to approximately 60 staff to do their job. The IT Manager supports both creatives (designers, editors, writers) and business (advertising sales, accounting, marketing). Providing superior customer service is a key component for this position
Washingtonian Media’s core IT environment is macOS, Google Workspace, and Adobe Creative Cloud. Candidates should have experience with all of these in a work environment. The ideal candidate with have some familiarity with some of our secondary technology categories, though not necessary the exact products. Bonus points for any experience with graphic design, print media, and/or CMYK color knowledge. We don’t expect candidates to know all of our technology.
A candidate should have at least 3 years in tech support, college degree preferred.
